High-Tech Mechanical Metrology Lab Project

Challenges Faced by 3DS

This project involved far more than simply supplying equipment; it posed several significant challenges for 3DS:

  • Shortage of specialized training personnel: There were no formal educational programs in advanced metrology available in Vietnam at the time, requiring 3DS to build the training framework entirely from the ground up.
  • Gap between academic theory and industrial practice: Traditional education remained focused on basic measurement methods, falling short of the high-level quality control standards required by modern industries.
  • Complexity of advanced metrology technologies: Manufacturers demanded cutting-edge measurement systems capable of delivering high precision and performing multi-parameter inspections across large batches of products.

3D Smart Solutions' Approach

To address these challenges, 3DS provided the university with a comprehensive solution that included:

  • Deployment of advanced equipment: Installation of a full suite of modern technologies, including a CMM machine, a Freescan X5 handheld 3D scanner, a 3D printer, and metrology software (Education Edition: Geomagic Control X).
  • Structured training programs from basic to advanced levels: The curriculum was carefully designed to integrate both theoretical foundations and intensive hands-on practice.
  • Technology transfer and academic support: 3DS experts directly participated in training faculty members and students, enabling them to quickly master new technologies. Notably, 3DS collaborated closely with the university to co-develop a specialized metrology textbook as part of the academic program.

3DS collaborated with HCMUTE to evaluate training requirements and existing conditions, then proposed an optimal set of equipment and a tailored curriculum.

Advanced metrology equipment was imported and installed in the High-Tech Mechanical Metrology Lab, meeting the most up-to-date educational standards.
